Your brain has a "feeding pattern" or direction that information flows. From the bottom or brainstem area toward the top of the brain, and from the back of the brain toward the frontal lobes, where conscious thoughts and decisions are "located." To improve the quality of your outputs--actions, thoughts and feelings--work on improving the quality of the inputs or information going into the bottom, from physical sensations and inner body sensations to social concepts. Your actions, thoughts, and ideas also loop back around to become new inputs.
That's highly simplified but it can give you a strategy or model to grow yourself.
